Research of the conceptual field of preschool teachers’ and preschoolers regarding the concept of ecosystem

Abstract

This research intends to investigate how preschoolers and preschool teachers understand the structure, the framework, and the function of an ecosystem as well as the mechanisms of interaction which are operating in it. The systematic study of the conception was focused on the elements of an ecosystem and the function among them. The searching questions were about how preschoolers and preschool teachers understand the structure, the boundaries, the components, the inner and the external relations network of them and the function of the ecosystem. The research method which was applied on preschoolers was Pair Depth review and Focus Group on preschool teachers. These two kinds of interview assure the potential of comprehensive discussions and highlighting a wide range of answers. The research procedure was conducted with 25 pairs of preschoolers and 4 groups of 7 members each. We had 50 preschoolers and 28 preschool teachers in total.
