Integrating collaborative web tools into educational environments: utilizing the TPACK model in designing a wiki-based teacher education program
Abstract
In our digital world, ICT tools are frequently used in education in order to offer an added value to the educational process. The expectations for the benefits that can obtained from the use of ICT tools are high. However, many studies conclude that these expectations are not always met and this creates the need for further research. In this context, this thesis focuses on the Web-based technology of wikis and the factors that influence its constructive use in education. By studying the characteristics of the specific technology and connecting them with learning theories, theories of motivation, educational methods and techniques, conclusions are reached about the best way to utilize it.These observations are then used in the context of an ideal educational scenario of a teacher training program.
