Problems in the phonemic - phonological process and their relations to the learning procedure among elementary school children

Abstract

The main goal of this research to describe examine and evaluate the effects of phonological - phonetic disorders to the learning procedure. The skill of phonological process and relations in this process have been explored. 4th grade children with learning disabilities (LD) were compared with children of the same grade without LP through six examinations of phonological process, testing phonological awareness, use of phonological code in working memory and their retrieval in long-term memory. The search has shown a significant statistical differentiation between good and poor readers. Furthermore, sub-tests on "Phoneme deletion", Blending word", "Memory for digits", Nonword repetition", "Object rapid naming" and "Digits rapid naming" may play critical role to the differentiation between the two groups, mainly on the grounds of phonological process.
