Abstract
The problem regarding speech disorders in pupils of different cultural backgrounds, which have become evident in recent years in many primary schools, is considered to have a negative impact on their productivity. Culturally diverse pupils attending primary school who exhibit some speech disorder are the subject of this research. The hypothesis of our research is that speech disorders and scholastic difficulties are influenced by specific factors, such as: the sex of the pupil, ethnicity, bilingualism and socio-economic background. The necessity and importance of this research is highlighted by the lack of such research relating to the assimilation of foreign pupils in Greek primary schools. The demonstration of certain behaviour, primarily by members of the dominant culture, has either a positive or negative impact on the assimilation of a minority culture within a social system.
