THE INFLUENCE OF MOISTURE ON ATMOSPHERIC GRAVITY WAVES GENERATED BY SHEAR LAYER
Abstract
THE STABILITY PROPERTIES OF HYPERBOLIC TANGENT VELOCITY PROFILE IN A STRATIFIED BAUSSINESQ FLUID, ARE INVESTIGATED IN THE PRESENCE OF UNSTABLE MOISTURE LAYERS. NEW UNSTABLE MODES IN THE RANGE OF LARGE HORIZONTAL WAVELENGTHS ARE FOUNDWITH RESPECT TO THE CASE WHERE NO UNSTABLE MOISTURE LAYER EXSTS. ALSO IT IS SHOWN, THAT THE UNSTABLE LAYERS BETWEEN THE INFLEXION POINT AND THE GROUND SEEMS TO ACT ANALOGOUSLY TO A RIGID LOWER BOTTOM OF THE SHEAR LAYER (GROUND) IN CREATING A LARGE NUMBER OF UNSTABLE GRAVITY MODES. THE UNSTABLE LAYERS OVER THEINFLEXION POINT SEEM TO ACT AS THE UPPER LIMIT OF THE ATMOSPHERE.
