Abstract

THE AIMS OF THE DOCTORAL THESIS WERE:A)THE ELICITATION,CLASSIFICATION & MODELING OF THE ALTERNATIVE IDEAS OF 4-YEAR STUDENT OF THE DPT OF PRIMARY EDUCATION ABOUT CONCEPTS AND MECHANISMS CONCERNING THERMAL PHENOMENA.B)THE DEVELOPMENTAND EVALUATION OF A CONSTRUCTIVIST TEACHING STRATEGY EIMING TO PROMOTE CONCEPTUAL CHANGE(FROM THE INITIAL IDEAS TO SCIENTIFIC ONES0.A MINOR GOAL WAS THE STUDENTS' ENGAGEMENT IN A CONSTRUCTIVIST TEACHING APPROACH,SO THAT THEY EXPERIENCE CONSTRUCTIVISM FROM THE ASPECT OF THE LEARNER AND EVALUATE THE EFFECTIVENESS OF THIS TEACHING APPROACH TOWARDS CONCEPTUAL CHANGE BY COMPARING IT WITH THE TRADITIONAL TEACHING METHODS.THE SAMPLE,204 STUDENTS OF THE ACAD.YEAR1993-4,WAS DEVIDED INTO TWO GROUPS.THE CONTROL ONE WAS TAUGHT THERMAL PHENOMENA IN A TRADITIONAL WAY,THE EXPERIMENTAL ONE IN A CONSTRUCTIVIST WAY.THE ELICITATION OF STUDENTS'INITIAL IDEAS AND WAYS OF REASONING WAS ACHIEVED BY ANOTHER QUESTIONNAIRE,A WEEK AFTER TEACHING.THE DURATIO ...
