CONGRUENCES IN E3 WITH A COMMON MIDDLE ENVELOPE AND INTEGRAL FORMULAE

Abstract

THIS DISSERTATION IS DEVOTED TO A STUDY OF RECTILINEAR CONGRUENCES IN THE THREEDIMENSIONAL EUCLIDEAN SPACE E3. CHAPTER I CONTAINS SOME BASIC ELEMENTS OF THE CONGRUENCE THEORY. CHAPTER II INCLUDES MAINLY AN INVESTIGATION OF EXISTENCE PROBLEMS OF CONGRUENCES, WHICH HAVE A COMMON MIDDLE ENVELOPE WITH A GIVEN CONGRUENCE SO. MOREOVER, SUCH A PROBLEM OF CONGRUENCES WITH A GIVEN LIMIT DISTANCE IS STUDIED. IN CHAPTER III IT IS PROVED THAT THE SET Π(SO), OF CONGRUENCES THAT HAVE A COMMON MIDDLE ENVELOPE WITH A GIVEN CONGRUENCE SO, SUPPLIED WITH TWO PROPERLY DEFINED ACTIONS, IS A REAL INFINITE DIMENSIONAL VECTOR SPACE. SOME PROPERTIES OF Π(SO) AND ITS SUBSPACES ARE ALSO STUDIED. CHAPTER IV CONCERNS SOME NEW INTEGRAL FORMULAE FOR HYPERBOLIC CONGRUENCES . BY USING THESE FORMULAE WE FIND PROPERTIES OF SPECIAL CONGRUENCES, SUCH AS, FOR EXAMPLE, A NECESSARY AND SUFFICIENT CONDITION FOR A CONGRUENCE TO BE W-CONGRUENCE.
