DEVELOPMENT OF THE SIMULTANEOUS VOLTAMMETRIC DETERMINATION OF HEAVY METALS WITHTHE HANGING MERCURY DROP ELECTRODE AND CHEMICALLY MODIFIED CARBON PASTE ELECTRODE
Abstract
IN THE PRESENT DOCTORAL THESIS A NEW, SELECTIVE AND VERY SENSITIVE METHOD FOR THE SIMULTANEOUS DETERMINATION OF NI, CO, CD, PB, CU BY ADSORPTIVE VOLTAMMETRY HAS BEEN DEVELOPED USING 1 - PHENYLPROPANE - 1 - PENTYLSULFONYLHYDRAZONE - 2 - OXIME, A NEW AND SELECTIVE COMPLEXING AGENT, IN NH4OH - NH4CL BUFFER. THE DETECTION LIMITS ARE 0,870 ΜG/L FOR CU, 1,22ΜG/L FOR PB, 0,960ΜG/L FOR CD, O,770 ΜG/L FOR NI AND 0,063ΜG/L FOR CO. DETECTION LIMITS CAN BE IMPROVED BY ADDITION OF POTASSIUM NITRITE. THE RELATIVE STANDARD DEVIATION AT CONCENTRATION LEVEL OF 7,81 PPB, VARIES WITHIN THE RANGE 2,70 - 5,20%. THE METHOD WAS APPLIEDIN NATURAL WATER SAMPLES (SEA, RIVER, UNDERGROUND) AS WELL AS IN FOOD SAMPLES. A NEW OPTIMIZED CHEMICALLY MODIFIED CARBON PASTE ELECTRODE WAS PREPARED. THE USEFUL POTENTIAL WINDOW WAS -1,0 V TO +0,5 V IN ACIDIC SOLUTIONS AND -1,8 V TO +1,0 V IN ALKALINE SOLUTIONS (RESISTANCE 5 - 10 OHM, PEAK CURRENT 0,067 ΜA, RESIDUAL CURRENT 1 ΜA).
