Environment policies in local government: the example of Attiki Region
Abstract
Subject of the thesis is to develop environment policy tools and procedures on sustainability for local governance authorities use. Here is produced a set of indicators as a tool for sustainability assessment of the challenges of climate change and their application in the Attica Region Greece. This set will serve as a key policy tool for methodological adaptation of human settlements to climate change but also to reduce their participation in the greenhouse effect. In the first part of the thesis examines the evolution of the human settlements in relation to sustainability where we try to give the message that their development was always in an inverse relationship with the quality of the surrounding environment, particularly the natural.
