FIELD LOSSES AND FORCES IN TUBULAR CONDUCTORS ESPECIALLY IN CABLES

Abstract

A SYSTEM OF PARALLEL TUBULAR CONDUCTORS HAS BEEN ANALYSED AND THE MAGNETIC FIELD, EDDY CURRENTS, JOULE HEAT AND ELECTROMAGNETIC FORCES HAVE BEEN CALCULATED.A NOVEL METHOD IS SUGGESTED, WHICH USES THE SPACE COMPLEX MAGNETIC POTENTIAL AND ANALYTICAL COMPLEX FUNCTIONS. THE FIELD IS CALCULATED USING FICTITIOUS CURRENT SHEETS EQUIVALENT WITH THE REAL CURRENTS. THE CURRENT LINE DENSITIES OF THESE SHEETS ARE EXPANDED IN SPACE COMPLEX FOURIER SERIES WITH UNKNOWN COEFFICIENTS. THE FIELD IN FREE SPACE IS EXPRESSED USING THE CURRENT SHEETS, AND IN CONDUCTING MATERIAL USING THE SOLUTION OF DIFFUSION EQUATION. APPLYING BOUNDARIES CONDITIONS RESULTS TO A SYSTEM WHICH DETERMINES THE COEFFICIENTS OF CURRENTSHEETS. ALL UNKNOWN QUANTITIES CAN BE DERIVED USING ONLY THESE COEFFICIENTS. A THREE PHASE SF6 POWER CABLE HAS BEEN ANALYSED, AND RESULTS ARE GIVEN FOR DIFFERENT CONDUCTIVITIES, MAGNETIC PERMEABILITIES AND THICKNESSES OF CONDUCTORS. THE MODEL TAKES INTO ACCOUNT THE REAL SIZES OF THICK ...
