A CONTRIBUTION TO THE STUDY OF COMPUTER ARCHITECTURE

Abstract

THIS STUDY INCLUDES PERFORMANCE AND FAULT TOLERANCE ANALYSES OF MULTIPROCESSOR SYSTEMS. MORE SPECIFICALLY WE STUDY SYSTEMS THAT EMPLOY CROSSBAR, MULTIPLE-BUSAND MULTISTAGE INTERCONNECTION NETWORKS. WE ASSUME UNIFORM AND NONUNIFORM DISTRIBUTION OF REQUESTS. HIERARCHICAL AND NON-HIERARCHICAL SYSTEMS ARE INVESTIGATED. WE PROPOSE MODELS THAT PREDICT THE PERFORMANCE OF VARIOUS MULTIPROCESSORSYSTEMS UNDER FAILURE CONDITIONS. FINALLY WE DEVELOP A SIMULATION ENVIRONMENTFOR THE STYDY OF MULTIPROCESSOR SYSTEMS.
