Empirical investigation of variability of agricultural product prices in international markets and the role of contract farming: the case of Sunflower

Abstract

Introduction: Contract farming involves agricultural production carried out based on an agreement between buyers and producers. Sometimes it includes the required quality and price determined by the buyer, which the producer has agreed to deliver at a future date.Aim: The purpose of the research is to study the extent to which contract farming affects the in-come of producers. In addition, the prognostic factors for the choice of contract cultivation and the effect of the demographic profile on this choice were studied. Finally, a study of the variability of sun-flower prices in comparison with other agricultural products was investigated.Methodology: A quantitative primary survey was conducted, using an original questionnaire which consisted of closed, opened, and multiple-choice questions, but also a secondary for the analysis of agricultural product variability.
