Evaluation of applied international sport tourism development models
Abstract
The tourism phenomenon is developing dynamically, managing to absorb short-term turbulence and proving to be time-resistant by depositing its social, political and economic footprint in the global economy. The dynamics of tourism focus on creating new trends, destinations and prospects for local communities. The long-term implementation of the mass model and tourism model «Four S» has reached a saturation point with the monotonous approach of the tourist market. The new tourism policy aims at sustainable development but there is now a maturity towards the diversification of the tourist product. Sport tourism as a special form of alternative tourism that confirms its strong position in global demand creating growth conditions, combining active participation with the characteristics of local communities.
