Cyberbullying in Greece: examination of the phenomenon from primary to the secondary education

Abstract

At the dawn of the 22nd century, a new phenomenon of human abuse has arrived and it's called Cyberbullying. The theoretical framework along with the empirical data set a new reality for the world and the education in general. Two of the most basic conditions in order for the Cyberbullying to be defined are the repetition and the imbalance of power. The new entry is the use of electronic means. Overall, we can conclude that there is a large agreement within the literature about the definition of cyberbullying based on the criteria of intentionality and power imbalance. A lower level of agreement characterizes the criterion of repetition which makes the comparison of empirical data around the world challenging. It seems that the need for new education and prevention programs is higher than ever.
