Quality of life after radical prostatectomy
Abstract
Radical prostatectomy is a major gravity procedure that is not devoid of post-operative complications. However, it is said not to affect the overall quality of life.Of a total of 441 patients, only 283 responded to all questionnaires. This significant loss of individual patients is attributed to the long length of the questionnaires used. Additionally, some patients undergoing radical prostatectomy were excluded due to relapse of the disease. In our study, the emotional state was significantly improved 2 years after radical prostatectomy. This can be attributed to many factors. On the one hand, pre-treatment questionnaires were answered just 2 weeks before surgery, at the time that significant stress due to newly diagnosed cancer was present. On the other hand, post-operative questionnaires were completed two years after surgery from patients with free disease, with few post-operative complications whose cancer was a bad past dream.
