STUDY OF THE GLYCOGENOLYTIC EFFECT OF AGEPC ON THE PROTOZOON TETRAHYMENA PYRIFORMIS AND ON RABBIT AND HUMAN PLATELETS
Abstract
PLATELET ACTIVATING FACTOR (PAF) SEEMS TO HAVE A DRAMATIC INFLUENCE ON THE STIMULATION OF GLYCOGENOLYSIS IN INTACT TETRAHYMENA PYRIFORMIS CELLS. THIS ACTION OF PAF IS DOSO- AND TIME-DEPENDED AND IS CONTACTED WITH THE STIMULATION OF PAF- RECEPTORS AT THE CELLS MEMBRANE, THE ENTRY OF CA2+ IN THE INTRACELLULAR SPACE AND FINALLY WITH THE STIMULATION OF GLYCOGEN PHOSPHORYLASE. THIS ACTION APPEARS WITH AN ACUTE AND A LATE ONSET . THE ACUTE EFFECT IS RELATED DIRECTLY WITH THE PAF ACTION AND THE LATE WITH FACTOR WHICH SECRETED FROM THE CELLS. WITH THE SAME FORM THAT GLYCOGENOLYTIC EFFECT OF PAF APPEARS ON RABBIT AND HUMAN PLATELETS,WASHED AND AS PLATELET RICH PLASMA. THE STIMULATION OF GLYCOGENOLYSIS AT THE PLATELETS IT COMES BEFORE THEIR AGGREGRATION FROM PAF AND IT LOOKS TO BE NECESSARY FOR THAT .
