INTEGRATED LANGUAGE INDEPENDENT MEASUREMENT OF SOFTWARE QUALITY CHARACTERISTICS
Abstract
THE PURPOSE OF THIS PHD THESIS IS TO DESCRIBE AN AUTOMATED PROTOTYPE SYSTEM (CALLED SPEL) WHICH HAS BEEN DEVELOPED WITH THE FOLLOWING OBJECTIVES. 1. TO MAKE THE PROCESS OF APPLYING CURRENT SOFTWARE METRICS MORE ECONOMICAL BY REDUCING THEAMOUNT OF MANUAL INSPECTION AND DATA COLLECTION. 2. LANGUAGE INDEPENDENCE. DIFFERENT ENVIRONMENTS CAN BE CREATED FOR DIFFERENT LANGUAGES. 3. METRICS INDEPENDENCE. NEW METRICS CAN BE ADDED TO THE BASIC RERNEL SET OF METRICS. 4. GRAPHICALREPRESENTATION OF COLLECTED DATA AND RESULT, OF METRICS. SPECIAL EMPHASIS IS GIVEN TO MAKE THE PROTOTYPE EASY CONVERTABLE TO A SOFTWARE PRODUCT.
