SYSTEMATIC AND ECOLOGY OF MARINE EUENDOLITHIC CYANOPHYTES FROM LIMESTONE COASTSOF GREECE
Abstract
EUENDOLITHIC CYANOPHYTES FROM LIMESTONE COASTS OF GREECE ARE EXAMINED FROM FLORISTIC, TAXONOMIC, ECOLOGICAL AND PHYTOGEOGRAPHICAL POINTS OF VIEW. THE STUDY WAS CARRIED OUT IN FRESH AND CULTURED MATERIAL BY MEANS OF LIGHT MICROSCOPY, SCANNING ELECTRON MICROSCOPY AND TRANSMISSION ELECTRON MICROSCOPY . THE IMPACT OF THESE MICROORGANISMS ON THE BIODESTRUCTION OF LIMESTONE COASTS HAS BEEN CONSIDERED. THE MORPHOLOGICAL FEATURES OF 25 EUENDOLITHIC SPECIES WERE IDENTIFIED AND STUDIED IN DETAIL. THREE TAXA DALMATELLA SP, HYELLA SP1, HYELLA SP2, SEEM TO CONSTITUTE NEW SPECIES FOR THE SCIENCE. ADDITIONALLY 77 TAXA WERE IDENTIFIED BELONGING TO THE ACCOMPANING EPILITHIC AND CHASMOEUDOLITHIC CYANOPHYTES.
