Bullying at primary School

Abstract

This thesis aims to examine the views of pupils regarding the phenomenon of victimisation in the primary school. The sample consisted of 791 pupils, 11 - 12 years old from 14 primary schools of Athens and Pireaus. The sample selection was based on random sampling. The research tools that were used for the collection of data consist of a questionnaire designed by Olweus (1991 and the updated 1996) which was translated and adapted to the Greek settings; Rosenberg’s Self-esteem Scale; the locus of control scale; the Children’s Nowicki-Strickland Scale, (1973) and Gittelman’s Manifest Anxiety Scale for children. In addition, a short-term intervention program in order to study conflict situations was attempted in two primary schools. Both schools were randomly selected. This program has been designed by Τriliva and Chimienti (1973) and includes measures before and after the implementation of the program for both control and experimental groups.
