Development of an integrated teacher oriented educational environment and an integrated quality assurance methodology for educational software

Abstract

This diplomatic dissertation refers to the creation of a web-based "Integrated Teacher oriented Educational Environment" (I.T.O.E.E.). The evironment is integrated as it deals with all aspects of the educational process, while it remains teacher-oriented aiming to transform the teacher from the traditional information provider to a facilitator of knowledge. ITOEE was implemented in practice in Geitonas School, during the academic period of 1999 - 2000, and the results of this evaluation were very encouraging. Furthermore, this diplomatic dissertation provides a pioneer Methodology for Quality Assurance if Educational Software. This Methodology approaches quality, firstly from the product point of view, (using internal metrics and operational units) and secondly from the end-users point of view (using questionnaires and search rules).
