DESORPTION KINETIC PROPERTIES OF CELLULOSE ACETATE MATRICES LOADED WITH VARIOUSSOLUTES IN RELATION TO THE THEORETICAL MODELS OF CONTROLLED RELEASE
Abstract
A STUDY HAS BEEN MADE OF THE DESORPTION KINETICS OF P-AMINOAZOBENZENE AND THREE SALTS (CASO4, SRSO4 AND NACL) INCORPORATED IN CELLULOSE ACETATE MATRICES, SOLVENT-CAST IN THE FORM OF FILMS. INCORPORATION OF THE SOLUTE IN THE MATRIX WASEFFECTED BY PRIOR DISSOLUTION OR DISPERSION IN THE CASTING SOLVENT AND IN THECASE OF P-AMINOAZOBENZENE BY SORPTION FROM AQUEOUS SOLUTION OR FROM THE VAPORPHASE. THE KINETICS OF DESORPTION INTO WATER WERE INVESTIGATED IN RELATION TOTHE SOLUTE SOLUBILITY IN THE POLYMER AND IN WATER, THE CONCENTRATION OF THE SOLUTE, THE METHOD OF INCORPORATION IN THE MATRIX, THE RATE OF AGITATION. THE CELLULOSPACETATE-P-AMINOAZOBENZENE SYSTEM WAS FULLY CHARACTERIZED FROM THE THERMODYNAMIC AND KINETIC VIEW AND THE REASONS OF THE DEVIATIONS FROM THE FICK'S LAW WERE INVESTIGATED.
