The folk songs of Vavdos Chalkidiki: ethnomusicological approach

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to examine musicologically the folk songs of Vavdos, Chalkidiki in relation to ethno-musicological approach. Firstly, the investigation aims to search and decipher the framework of the folk songs of Vavdos. Secondly, it aims at the depiction of them with the assistance of the special symbols in musicological notation of European Music. More specifically, these symbols add up to the special intervallic structures of Hellenic folk music. In this way, a structural, metric, model analysis is held and purposes to make the intangible-ideal musical texts of the oral traditional material written musical texts which are suitably deciphered texts for specific study. So, the basic tool of the study is the archival audio material, the interviews and the field work.
