Design and evaluation methodologies of intelligent digital environments for culture and society

Abstract

Welcoming the new digital era, Culture and Cultural Heritage constantly integrate numerous technological applications in a daily basis, both in research and in everyday practice. This dissertation hosts an extended study of scientific literature that gathers a plethora of digital systems which support various cultural disciplines with their services. That study indicates that the wide majority of digital services, which have been proposed until this day, aim at supporting procedures like digitization, digital preservation, but also organization and public notification of cultural information. In this dissertation, we try to imprint the next step in the relation between Information Technology and Culture, given the fact that technology evolves rapidly and feeds humanity with new achievements, daily (Internet of Things, Augmented and Virtual Reality, Semantic Web, Unmanned Aerial Vehicles).
