The Unified Multidisciplinary High School (EPL): a station in the history of our educational system

Abstract

This work seeks to shed light on the establishment, operation, evaluation and abolition of the Integrated Multidisciplinary/Unified Multidisciplinary High School /Comprehensive High School/Polyvalence Lyceum/Polyvalent Lyceum/Multifarious Lyceum (EPL) It aims to highlight the purposes that imposed the presence of the EPL, the organization and operation of this school, its positive or negative contribution to the second level of secondary education and the reasons for which it was abolished. A historical review of educational reforms is being attempted from the creation of the modern Greek state to the post-colonial period showing that education is linked to the socio-political situation in the country. Respectively / depending on the EPL, educational systems of other countries are presented, which obviously had an impact on this specific educational "experiment".
