MATHEMATICAL MODELLING OF THE MECHANICAL BEHAVIOUR OF METALLIC MATERIALS UNDER CREEP CONDITIONS

Abstract

THIS THESIS REFERS TO THE DESCRIPTION AND PREDICTION OF MECHANICAL BEHAVIOUR OFMETALLIC MATERIALS UNDER CREEP CONDITIONS . A PHYSICAL- PHENOMENOLOGICAL MODELIS DEVELOPED AND ITS STRUCTURE PARAMETERS AND FITTING PARAMETERS ARE DETERMINED, AS WELL AS ITS MECHANICAL RHEOLOGICAL DIAGRAM IS DEMONSTRATED. THE CREEP FUNCTION UNDER CONSTANT LOADING CONDITIONS AS WELL AS THE DEPENDENCES OF THE FITTING PARAMETERS ON THE STRESS ARE RESULTED. A METHODOLOGY FOR THE PREDICTION OF CREEP STRAIN UNDER TIME- VARIABLE LOADING CONDITIONS, EXCLUSIVELY WITH CONSTANT CREEP DATA IS FORMULATED. THE DESCRIPTION OF THE MECHANICAL BEHAVIOUR IS COMPLETED WITH THE FORMULATION OF FAILURE CRITERIA AND RELATIONS FOR THE PREDICTION OF THE CREEP LIFETIME. FINALLY, THE DEPENDENCE ON THE TEMPERATURE IS STUDIED. THE ENTIRE ANALYSIS RESULTS IN THE DETERMINATION, ON THE ONE HAND, OF THE MATERIAL CONSTANTS, ON THE OTHER HAND, OF THE PREDICTION UNDER TIME- VARIABLE TEMPERATURES.
