Broadcast Television Network Evening News (TV News) and Government and Government: the Implosion of Information and Propaganda in the News

Abstract

The study examines how the TV Media and the Government frame Public Information and Communication. It supports that in today’s times in the TV News and in governmental communication public information coexists together with media, journalistic and governmental expediencies. Theoretically this special form of framing of Public Information and Communication is being studied through the approach of the communicator’s view. Empirically it is examined through the study of the news framing in the broadcast television network evening news (TV News) on the one side and in governmental communication on the other side, as well as through the interaction of the TV Media and government in the Greek reality. The methodology applied is content analysis combined with personal in-depth interviews.
