ΜΕΛΕΤΗ ΟΛΙΓΟΜΕΛΩΝ ΑΣΤΡΙΚΩΝ ΣΜΗΝΩΝ ΣΤΟ ΓΑΛΑΞΙΑ LMC

Abstract

THIS IS A SHORT REVIEW OF THE MAIN RESULTS OF MY PH.D THESIS CONCERNING SOME IMPORTANT PROBLEMS ON THE DYNAMICAL PROPERTIES (MASIS M, TIDAL RADIUS RT, CORE RADIUS RC, CONCENTRATION PARAMETERS LOG RT/RC) FOR A LARGE SAMPLE OF SMALL LMC CLUSTERS. PARTICULAR I STUDIED 70 SMALL CLUSTERS (M<104 MO) WHICH ARE LOCATED THROUGHOUT THE WHOLE PERIPHERAL OF THIS GALAXY. IN ADDITION 93 SMALL CLUSTERS WEREDETECTED AND CATALOGED IN THE CENTRAL LMC AREA. THE MAIN RESULTS ARE THE FOLLOWING: 1) 15-20% OF THE STUDIED CLUSTERS WERE FOUND TO HAVE PROFILES WHICH DON'TFIT THE CLASSICAL DENSITY PROFILES OF GLOBULAR CLUSTERS. THESE ARE DIVIDED INTO FOUR CATEGORIES WHICH CHARACTERIZE EACH GROUP OF THE DISCREPANT CLUSTERS. POSSIBLE EXPLANATION ARE GIVEN. 2) THE SMALL LMC CLUSTERS SEEM TO BE RELAXED MOST LIKELY BY TWO BODY ENCOUNTERS. 3) THESE CLUSTERS MUST BE SITUATED ON THE EXTENDED DISC OF LMC. 4) THE TOTAL CLUSTERS' MASSES WERE FOUND TO BE 103 TO 104 MO. 5) THE AGE OF THE STELLAR POPULATION FOR 4 STAR CLUSTER ...
