MANIPULATION OF GREEK ANTIQUITY AND HISTORY BY GREEK COMICS (1950-1990)
Abstract
THIS THESIS CENTERS UPON THE WAY GREEK COMICS (ESP. "CLASSICS ILLUSTRATED") MANIPULATE HISTORICAL MEMORY. IT ABANDONS THE TRADITIONAL PSYCHOLOGICAL, POLITICAL, SOCIOLOGICAL APPROACHES AS WELL AS PART OF SEMIOTIC ONES, ADOPTING A POINT OFVIEW MORE OR LESS DECONSTRUCTIONIST. IT WORKS MAINLY ON COMICS' PREFACES, POINTING OUT THE MAJOR RHETORIC TROPES AS WELL AS THEIR IDEOLOGICAL BACKGROUND. IT IS ALSO SEARCHING FOR ICONOGRAPHIC TROPES AND CENSORSHIP TO THE WORKS OF ANTIQUITY.
