DETECTABILITY-LOCATABILITY AND ACCURACY OF THE DETERMINATION OF SOURCE PARAMETERS OF THE SEISMIC NETWORKS OF THE NATIONAL OBSERVATORY OF ATHENS
Abstract
THE SEISMOLOGICAL INSTITUTE OF THE NATIONAL OBSERVATORY OF ATHENS IS GOING TO EXPAND THE NATIONAL SEISMIC NETWORK. THE AIM OF THIS DISSERTATION IS TO CALCULATE THE THRESHOLD MAGNITUDE OF THE SEISMIC STATIONS WHICH ARE OPERATING BY USING TWO DIFFERENT TECHNIQUES, AS WELL AS THE DETERMINATION OF THE DETECTABILITY ANDTHE LOCALABILITY OF THE OPERATING NETWORK. THE PLACES OF THE INSTALLATION OF THE NEW STATIONS ARE FOUND OUT WITH MODELLING METHODS. SO THE NEW STATIONS ARE GOING TO OPERATE AT THESE PLACES WHERE THE LOCALABILITY OF THE NEW NETWORK BECAUSE MAXIMUM. IN ORDER TO COMPARE AND TO VERIFY THE RIGHTNESS OF THE GEOMETRY OF THE NEW NETWORK THE ACCURACY OF THE SOURCE PARAMETERS (DX, DY, DXY, DZ, DT) ARECALCULATED. THE RESULTS SHOW THAT THE LOCALABILITY DETACTABILITY AND THE ACCURACY OF THE SOURCE PARAMETERS ARE IMPROVED SIGNIFICANTLY. ACCORDING TO THESE RESULTS THE INSTALLATION OF THE NEW SEISMIC STATIONS STARTED AT THE SUGGESTED PLACES.
