Linguistic representations of the child and childhood in selected poetic texts of Odysseas Elytis

Abstract

The doctoral thesis attempts to detect, locate and analyze the linguistic and expressive ways in which the child and childhood are represented in selected poetic texts of Odysseas Elytis. In the first part, the theoretical framing of the poetic personality, the work and the international footprint of Odysseas Elytis are carried out. At the same time, an orientation is attempted in the poet's perceptions of language and the concept of the child. The theoretical part also focuses on basic concepts of linguistics and literature and on seeing language as a child's representational mechanism. The first part of the thesis concludes with the theoretical discussion of the poetic language and its characteristics as well as with a bibliographically based approach to the poetic language of Odysseas Elytis and the characteristics that shape his idiolect.
