Stamatis Metaxas: the artist and his work

Abstract

This research seeks to explore and present the work of the Artist - Professor at the Faculty of Fine Arts, Mr. Stamatis – Panayotis Metaxas, as well as the course of events of his life that seem to have influenced it. More specifically, chosen paintings from the time of his student years, up until today, are presented and analyzed. Concurrently, the thinking procedure, as well as the way he perceives the painting process, is recorded. Each painting is analyzed separately regarding its “Art” and “Style”. Selected reviews upon some of his paintings, written by distinguished personalities of the artistic world, assist in a deeper interpretation of them. The research is comprised of the following chapters: a. A biography of the artist. His relationship with the Faculty of Fine Arts, both as a student and as a member of the Faculty, b.
