The region of Paramythia (Photice - Saint Donatus) in the middle ages

Abstract

The region of Paramythia and generally Thesprotia, which is currently one of the prefectures of Greece not very extensive, it is the least studied of the Greek regions of Epirus and the reason is that it hasn’t emerged as a major center. There has not been a comprehensive study until today which would include consolidated all subsequent settlements developed in the area of Paramythia in modern times, starting of course from Photice and ending in Parymythia, covering a period of fifteen centuries and second the entire Thesprotia in the form of a detailed description of the major settlements. What is attempted in this study is first and foremost as possible a comprehensive research on the history of the region of Photice - Saint Donatus - Paramythia, which indeed could be the basis for dealing with further issues for an unknown region of western Greece, and then the entire Thesprotia.
