The participation and activity of women in the National Resistance 1941-1944
Abstract
In Greece the participationof women in the National Resistance was great, important and valuable. An important indiacator of their effort against the occupies is the fact that at the rally of Athens in June 22nd 1943 at least two of the victims were women. Women in cities and villages worked for the liberation of their country. Their partisipation in organizations-thought it began slowly- increased during the last year of the occupation. Most women were organized after spring of 1943. As expected, women’s intesive action described above led to a various reactions by the other side. Their partcipation in military strikes caised not only damage and problems to the army forces but at the same time boosted the general feeling for resistance. The consequenses of their actions involved eiter them or their families or entire villages.
