Petrus Morellus Turonensis' scholia on his poetic work De Bello Troiano: introduction, editio princeps, commentary
Abstract
This thesis seeks to present the editio princeps of the unknown until now Scholia accompanying P. Moreau’s De bello Troiano, the only latin translation of Tzetzes’ poetic composition entitled Troica. The corpus of these scholia is characterised by a peculiarity, as since it derives material from two sources: Specifically, a number of Pierre Moreau’s annotations is actually a latin translation of the respective text written in Greek by the byzantine author, whereas a substantial part of Scholia were produced by the French scholar who, while translating, further enriched the poem that was under creation with his own observations.An analytical introduction precedes the critical edition of the Scholia, in order to provide important palaeographic information concerning the manuscripts that preserve the text, and to present the physiognomy of the work which now comes to publicity.
