Comparative study of the newer anticonvulsants in a spared nerve injury model of neuropathic pain in rats

Abstract

The purpose of the study was the comparison of the effectiveness of three AEDs in the treatment of neuropathic pain produced in the spared nerve injury model in Wistar rats. The results was that carbamazepine appears to be more effective in cold allodynia, levetiracetam in reducing heat hyperalgesia and gabapentin in reducing mechanical allodynia.
