The analysis of regional innovation systems

Abstract

A regional system of innovation underlines the dynamic, cumulative and social nature of the innovation production process. This regional aggregation includes research institutes, academic institutions, training organizations, policy makers, financing organizations, clusters and intermediary facilitating actors for technology transfer. The final beneficiaries of the coordinated frame of support for the production of innovation are the enterprises of region. The approaches of analysis of regional system of innovation follow two basic approaches. The systemic approach which analyzes in detail the internal attribution of regions examining the system failures and the metric approach which analyzes the indicators of imputs and outputs examining the market failures.
