Rhodes since the ottoman empire until the national unification: The Bishop of Rhodes, Apostolos, the church and education

Abstract

The dissertation depicts the history of Rhodes since the Ottoman Empire until the national unification (1912-1947). In addition, it presents the life of the Bishop of Rhodes, Apostolos, since 1913, year in which he was elected to his office, until his death, in 1957. Furthermore, it examines various ecclesiastical issues of Rhodes, having as an epicentre the endeavour of creation of an autonomous dodecanesian church. Lastly, the dissertation deals with the topic of education in Rhodes during the same period of time.
