DEVELOPMENT OF AN ADVANCED PC-BASED CNC CONTROLLER

Abstract

AN ADVANCED SYSTEM IS DESCRIBED FOR CONTROLLING A MULTI-AXIS MILLING MACHINE. THE SYSTEM PROVIDES ACCURACY, UNIFORMITY OF FEEDRATE ALONG THE PATH AND MAXIMUM FEEDRATE. TOOL CENTER PATH IS GENERATED BY HIGHLY ACCURATE INTERPOLATION ROUTINES WHICH GENERATE CUTTING STEPS EQUAL TO THE RESOLUTION OF THE MILLING MACHINE.A DIFFERENT APPROACH IN IMPLEMENTING THE CIRCULAR INTERPOLATION BY THE DDA METHOD IS REPRESENTED. THE SYSTEM WAS TESTED SUCCESSFULLY IN THE MACHINE TOOL-LABORATORY-UNIVERSITY OF PATRAS.
