Sensitive skin: Endogenous and engenic pathogenetic factors

Abstract

INTRODUCTION: Investigation of endogenous and exogenic factors, which are related with the appearance of sensitive skin.PATIENTS AND METHODS: 44 individuals with sensitive skin and 44 individuals with normal skin participated in this study. The patients and the control group were submitted to a number of clinical, laboratory and psychological tests. The testing methods included: 1) Epicutaneous testing (Patch tests), especially the European standard and Cosmetic series, 2) measurement of hydration and sebum of the skin, 3) alkali resistance test, 4) stinging test with lactic acid, 5) valuation of the angiokinetic possibility of the skin 6) pH measurement, 7) dermographism, 8) measurement of total and specific IgE.
