Abstract

THE PURPOSE OF MY DISSERTATION IS TO EXAMINE CLOSELY THE ACTIVITIES OF THRASYBOULOS OF STEIRIA, AS WELL AS THE EVENTS CONNECTED WITH HIM DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY, DURING THE LAST PERIOD OF THE PELOPONNESIAN WAR (413-404 B.C.). THIS PERIOD,ALTHOUGH IT HAS BEEN STUDIED EXTENSIVELY, PRESENTS ALOT OF PROBLEMS, WHICH AREDIFFICULT TO SOLVE, MAINLY BECAUSE OF THE NATURE OF THE SOURCES (IN PARTICULARBECAUSE OF THE FREQUENT CONTRADICTORY ACCOUNTS OF XENOPHON (HELLENICA) AND DIODOROS). THE WHOLE RESEARCH IS BASED ON A FULL AND DETAILED STUDY, AS WELL AS ONA CRITICAL ANALYSIS OF THE SOURCES (LITERARY AND EPIGRAPHIC) AND THE MODREN AND CONTEMPORARY BIBLIOGRAPHY. (SHORTENED)
