The imprint of COVID-19 pandemic on Greek primary school teachers’ digital culture and pedagogical practices
Abstract
This dissertation investigates the multifaceted impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the digital culture and teaching practices of primary school educators in Greece. With a primary focus on understanding the evolution of digital pedagogy amidst the pandemic, the study explores the integration of digital technologies within educational settings and its implications on educators’ practices and attitudes. The research is grounded in a socio-critical paradigm and utilizes a mixed-method explanatory research design. This approach includes both quantitative and qualitative methods to provide a comprehensive analysis of the ways Emergency Remote Teaching and Intermittent Face to Face Teaching influenced immediate teaching practices and the broader educational landscape. Data collection involved questionnaires (417 responses) and focus groups (30 participants), engaging primary school teachers across various regions of Greece.
