Greek and Greek origin composers of the diaspora with composing works after 1950: sonatas for violin and piano: presentation, interpretation and critical evaluation of the sonata for violin and piano by Dinos Constantinides and Boris Papandopulo

Abstract

The present dissertation focuses on musical works entitled Sonata for violin and piano by Greek composers and composers of the Greek diaspora after 1950. The research on which it is based pertains to the investigation of four working hypotheses: a) the impact of national descent on the creative outlook of diasporic composers, b) the allowances for the evolution of sonata form, c) the role of the violin as a basic instrument in the compositional outlook of contemporary composers, and, d) the potential for the furtherance of compositional experimentations, as well as for new expressive capacities of the violin-piano combination.
