The female characters in Margarita Karapanou's fiction
Abstract
The present paper attempts to study the female characters that compose the novels of Margarita Karapanou Kassandra and the Wolf, Yes, Mum. Firstly, a detailed presentation of the author's life is made. The social and political conditions under which she began her writing career are then mentioned. At the same time, works of novelists of the same literary generation are examined. This is followed by the presentation of the whole of Karapanou’s prose work through reviews by foreign and Greeks researchers. A comparative study is being carried out between works by foreign novelists and the novels of Margarita Karapanou. The three theoretical models focusing on the study of literary characters are following and a framework of criteria on the basis of which female characters are classified into specific categories is also composed.
