ENDOGENEOUS MECHANISM OF REGURATION OF ANGIOGENESIS IN CHICK CHORIOALLANTOIC MEMBRANE

Abstract

IN THE PRESENT STUDY, THE INVOLVEMENT OF SIGNIFICANT ENDOGENOUS MECHANISMS INTHE REGULATION OF ANGIOGENESIS WAS INVESTIGATED USING THE CHICK CHORIOALLANTOIC MEMBRANE SYSTEM (CAM).THE ASSESSMENT OF ANGIOGENESIS BASED ON THE RATE OF BASEMENT MEMBRANE BIOSYNTHESIS OF VESSELS IN THE CAM, AND ON THE VASCULAR DENSITY OF VESSELS IN THE CAM. FROM THE RESULTS OBTAINED BY THE PRESENT STUDY WE SUGGEST THAT: THROMBIN PROMOTES ANGIOGENESIS BY A MECHANISM INDEPENDENTOF FIBRIN FORMATION. FIBRIN PROMOTES ANGIOGENESIS INDEPENDENTLY OF ANGIOGENESIS-PROMOTING EFFECT OF THROMBIN. THE PROTEIN KINASE C AND CYCLIC AMP SIGNALTRANSDUCTION MECHANISMS HAVE OPPOSING EFFECTS ON MODULATION OF ANGIOGENESISIN THE CAM. THROMBIN PROMOTES ANGIOGENESIS POSSIBLY VIA ACTIVATION OF PROTEIN KINASE C SIGNAL TRANSDUCTION MECHANISM. THE CAMP SIGNAL TRANSDUCTION MECHANISM SUPPRESSES THE ANGIOGENIC EFFECT OF THROMBIN IN THE CAM.
