Introduction of efficient quality of service support mechanisms in IP mobile communication networks
Abstract
In this PhD thesis, an interworking mechanism between mobility and Quality of Service signaling for IP networks was developed. The deployment of the proposed mechanism enables the provision of QoS services to mobile users. The described approach is based on the hierarchical structure of the access networks and exploits the basic features of the micro-mobility management schemes. The added functionality allows the seamless mobility of the wireless terminals in the whole coverage area of the access network. The documentation and specification of the proposed RSVP Mobility Proxy functionality, along with the detailed description of RSVP message processing form the base for the development of the solution. The performance evaluation of the proposed approach was carried out with the development of theoretical models as well as the use of simulation and confirms the overall improvement of the system performance
