CONTROL OF HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE BY A HIGH COMPLIANCE BALLOON
Abstract
IN THIS WORK THE CONTROL OF HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE IS ATTEMPTED AROUND A PRESENT (TARGET) VALVE BY CONNECTING THE ARTERIA SYSTEM WITH A COMPLEX HIGH COPLIANCE BALLOON. THIS BALLOON COMPRISED OF 12 SIMPLE ONES WAS USED IN 5 ANESTHETIZED DOGS FOR IN VIVO EXPERIMENTS. THE PEAK PRESSURE OF THIS BALLOON WAS 126 MM HG AND THE PLATEAU PRESSURE WAS 94 MM HG. THE APPLICATION OF THE BALLOON BROUGHT THE MEAN ARTERIAL PRESSURE FROM THE LEVEL 184,20 +- 43,33 MM HG (X +- SD) TO 106,9 +- 8,81 MM HG WITHOUT ANY OSCILLATIONS OF THE PRESSURE ( 88,1 +- 19,3% OF THE ARTERIAL PRESSURE DROP WAS EFFECTED WITHIN 5 MINUTES). IN CONCLUSION THE CONNECTION OF THE COMPLEX BALLOON WITH THE ARTERIAL SYSTEM OF THE DOGS SUCCEEDED IN CONTROLLING HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE AROUND THE PRESET LEVEL QUICKLY WITHOUT USING DRUGS AND WITHOUT ANY FLUCTUATIONS. THE PROBLEM OF COAGULATION DOES NOT PERMIT A CHRONIC CLINICAL USE.
