The hellenism in the metropolitan country of Korytsa

Abstract

In order to develop the topic: “The Hellenism in the metropolitan county of Korytsa” we worked comprehensively as below: Firstly, we defined the specific place geographically, we examined Hellenism as it developed from the pre-historic era to the Roman domination and next, to the Byzantine period. All these periods are given as samples. For the first time based on Turkish registers from the 15th century we bring in public the Ottoman domination in the area. We prove the existence of the Holy Metropolitan Bishop of Korytsa which was the lighthouse of Hellenism all those years throughout this area, along with the bishoprics. The social structure, the ecclesiastical organization, the associations - guilds, the donators with their legacies, the education from the 15th until the 20th century are dominant and mark out the life of Hellenism up to 1914, when the country of Albania was created.
