Development, characterization and research of magnetic nanoparticles for technological and biomedical applications
Abstract
The last decades nanotechnology, thanks to its broad variety of applications, attracts interest from a large amount of researchers which are coming from different scientific fields. Generally, these applications are divided in two areas: technology and biomedicine. Environmental protection, catalysis, energy storage and production and data storage are included in technological applications, while magnetic targeting for drugs or genes delivery, magnetic resonance imaging and magnetic hyperthermia in biomedical ones. In literature a large amount of publications are related to anticancer applications. The accomplished progresses are quite impressive; however, the difficulty of cancer treatment requires much more efforts. Magnetic hyperthermia is a promising therapy when is applied in combination with conventional therapeutic methods.Main goal of this thesis is to synthesize nanoparticles with predetermined properties, with the appropriate for technological or biomedical applications prope ...
