Gender and educational process: attitudes and behaviors of Greek teachers by gender in the face of students in the learning process
Abstract
The matter of gender equity and gender discrimination is connected in modern bibliography to education, not only as a temporal institution, but also as a procedure of humans’ raising up and socializing within school bounds, through which the dominative ideologies about gender are spread and reproduced in societies from time to time.Taking seriously in mind all the theoretical knowledge and the scientific elements, the present research intends to detect and point out the opinions, perceptions and attitudes of teachers, during the educational process. In order to explore in an empirical way the above matters, a questionnaire – used as a research tool- was delivered to Primary School teachers.The results of this research demonstrated that teachers have got stereotypic perceptions about gender indeed, they attribute different characteristics to male and female students and they use differentiated practices towards boys and girls while teaching.
