Utilization and optimization of solar systems in buildings
Abstract
Our society faces a great number of problems which are related with the global warming, the fossil fuel depletion and the electricity price increase. The use of renewable and alternative energy sources, as solar energy, is vital for achieving the sustainability in the future. Especially for the building sector which is responsible for th 40% of the worldwide energy consumption, the use of solar energy can be the only sustainable choice from energetic and financial point of view. The objective of this dissertation is the analysis of various solar systems for building applications. Various collector types (concentrated and no concentrated) are analyzed and be optimized. Moreover, many heating, cooling and electricity production technologies coupled with solar collectors are investigated in this dissertation. Absorption chillers, ORC, heat pumps and other technologies are investigated in the present work.
